Does Ephesians 2:8, 9 contradict Ephesians 2:10?

A christian is to do as good as he or she can, even preaching the good news to others which would certainly be a good work. But christians are not 'saved' because of those works. It is because of God's love. In other words we cannot save ourselves by just doing good works. Good works don't necessarily involve our hearts nor our love for God. We cannot 'earn' salvation. It is God's free gift to those who love him from the heart.
