Can you use an audio recording of a business meeting as evidence in court?

I have an iPhone and rather than write things down in meetings...I record them so I can go back later and write down important information that was said. In this case I recorded a meeting I had with a former boss. He had his assistant who was taking notes and I as I have in the past, started my iPhone recording. Well just so happens some strong contradicting statements were made. I'm considering a lawsuit and these recordings of various meetings, contain proof of gross negligence on behalf of the company. Can I use this against them in court to counter documents they submitted to the unemployment office denying me unemployment.
