Should I have stood up to him or tried to contradict him with his statement and beliefs? Was he correct too?

One of my friends said we should intoegrate with white people in their lands, but not 'adopt their vulgart ways of lives.' By this, he meant, their high divorce rates, pornogrpahy, strip clubs, high infidelity, etc. He said we should preserve our traduitional values(I'm from an old fashioned non white culture), and teach our kids thour values, and NOT adopt white people's ways when it comes to relationships, promiscuity, etc. Was he a bigot? Should I have tried to objkect to what he said?
